Hello my dear friends. It is I, Richard Gustason, giving your eyeballs more words to read. This subject is a pretty interesting one considering what has transpire in my life recently: can you go home again. As some of you know, I truly wanted to move to Los Angeles, CA to pursue acting and comedy, with some writing sprinkled in. Well I did some acting doing background work on the TV shows "The Middle" and "Last Man Standing" (by the way, I am "Stosh" to Tim Allen apparently). I did some comedy doing open mic gigs at the Hollywood Hotel and the Hollywood Improv. I also did a couple things with an improv troupe at Second City in Los Angeles. Yet, something was just not right. And when it was figured out, it was taken care of.
Let's start with the fact that while I was doing all of that which was mentioned earlier I was living in hotels looking for places to live. I even spent 15 days at the Los Angeles Mission homeless shelter (which in itself is its own blog post). I also decided to work a really good job as a marketing rep for a janitorial service. So then one day, while I had time to look at my situation it hit me: I probably need to go back to Colorado Springs, CO and RE-EVALUATE EVERYTHING!!. So when I put my thoughts to God, the decision was made...go home and restart it all.
Am I going to regret this decision, who knows. That regret is on ME, not on you or your dad or that next door neighbor who gives you the stink eye every time you take out the trash. But what IF this isn't really a regrettable decision. I mean, I look at that point in this. So I took a Greyhound bus and headed back to the Colorado Springs. I arrived yesterday with this odd feeling of exhaustion and relief. I however don't feel the "regret" of this decision. And I guess I answered an age old question: Can you go home again? The answer to that is...yeah I guess you can.
So now that I am back home in Colorado Springs this will NOT BE LOOKED AT WITH A DEFEATED MIND FRAME. It is just how things wound up. That's all. And yeah some things with this little site will be changed. Because it is what it is: a change. So you can go home again...I guess.
Goodbye for now and remember what the fox said. He said nothing because he's a fox and foxes don't talk. Enjoy your day.
