Well as you can tell by the clock, 2014 is coming pretty quickly. No look at the image up top. Okay back down to here. And that also means a barrage of comments about "resolutions". Now I am not saying that you should not have resolutions...oh wait yes I am. I have seen where I've made resolutions, then made goals. All at the same time. And the results of doing both is. to use a Mr. Spock term, fascinating.
I have learned that when I made a resolution like losing weight or quitting smoking or not staring at lovely ladies for long periods of time I tend to break those resolutions. And in some cases very quickly. I noticed I made excuses and honestly really didn't feel like it was such a big deal. However when I made a GOAL like writing a script or losing a certain amount of pounds and didn't achieve it I felt, well, pretty damn awful. And I knew that I could not make any excuses I had to own up to why I didn't achieve my goal. And that's when it hit me: goals are MUCH BETTER than resolutions. It's a goofy science that I have played with until I was certain that I should not make resolutions but GOALS.
Some of you out there right now have made your resolutions. And that's pretty cool, you're a step ahead of some of these knuckleheads. I say experiment with this: turn your resolutions into goals. So if you have a resolution to lose weight, turn it into a goal. If you have a resolution to quit smoking or eating healthier make it a goal. If you have an idea to write that next screenplay then that really should not be under "resolutions", that is a big time "goal". If you still are not getting the hint then make it a goal and not a resolution to be quicker with getting hints.
I will say this: this blog will be better in 2014. With lots of words and I'll sprinkle in a pretty picture or two. You know what I think I can do the picture part at the end of this blog. I am going to do that. Where was I..oh yeah. So what I would like you to do is sit down. Ponder over what your resolutions are and make them into goals. And see how you feel when you do or don't achieve them. Or you can play with the experiment. Make one resolution and one goal. See what happens if you don't achieve either. Yeah, with this one I want you to fail. And fail miserably and spectacularly. Now if you excuse me I have to go achieve some goals. What? You want the pretty picture I said I would do? Alrighty then. It is below this blog. Enjoy this lovely photo. And enjoy your 2014.
